LA's Hip Chick: LGBTQ-Owned Organic Farm Reaches $1M in Sales

Hip Chick Farms was founded by Los Angeles native Serafina Palandech and her wife Jennifer Johnson, former sous chef at Chez Panisse under sustainable foods pioneer Alice Waters and current Executive Chef for the Getty family.

Downey-born Palandech and Johnson - who are married with a young child - make gourmet, artisan frozen products that have already attracted the attention of Sprouts, Whole Foods -- and more recently, the Food Network, which invited them to start in an episode of 'Food Fortunes'.

After groundbreaking growth that includes $1M in sales and already having launched in a thousand stores (many in LA), Hip Chick Farms organic, frozen poultry products [hipchickfarms.com] is now partnering with CircleUp - a 'Kickstarter' for consumer brands to find major investors.
